Faculty & Staff Email

CityTech Administrative E-mail (powered by Microsoft Exchange Outlook) is the e-mail system for all faculty and staff. An e-mail account is generated for all City Tech employees upon an OCIS request made by the Office of Instructional Staff Relations or Human Resources.

Please contact your department Chairperson or call the Faculty & Staff Helpdesk at (718) 260-5626 to find out your E-mail and default password.

Part-time employees can access their e-mail through the Internet at https://webmail.citytech.cuny.edu/

Full-time employees will have a Outlook client installed on their campus computers.
Full-time employees can also access their e-mail using an Internet browser - https://webmail.citytech.cuny.edu/

You will access GroupWise live mailbox through a new web URL: https://email1.old.citytech.cuny.edu

All new messages to your College e-mail address will be accessible through the Exchange e-mail system. You can access e-mail through the web: https://webmail.citytech.cuny.edu or if you have a College desktop computer, through the MS Outlook client.

You will not have easy access to your GroupWise archive after go-live. Before go-live ensure that any critical archive messages were un-archived and available in your GroupWise live mailbox. You will also be able to open your GroupWise Archive on any computer that has the GroupWise client. There will be several locations throughout the College where GroupWise client will still be available to you.

Web access: After go-live all users can access their College e-mail through the web: https://email1.old.citytech.cuny.edu

Outlook client: After go-live and once the client has been installed on your computer, full time employees can setup the Outlook client to connect to the GroupWise server. Creating a secondary connection on the Outlook client will allow users to view their new Exchange e-mail and their GroupWise messages. Through the Outlook client, users can drag and drop messages from GroupWise into their Exchange live mailbox.

You will have to export your calendar items using a GroupWise desktop client. Then once you have access to an Outlook client, you can import that file into your Exchange account.

  1. Open the Email with GroupWise client
  2. Forwarded the email as an Attachment to your email address (Fist initial+Lastname@citytech.cuny.edu)
  3. Email will be sent to the Exchange email System
  4. Open the attachment within the newly received email.
  5. Select Reply

In accordance to collective bargaining agreements, all City Tech retirees are given the opportunity to have a University/CityTech retiree email account. In accordance to College procedure, the retiree must make a request to the Office of Instructional Staff relations or Human Resources in order to obtain a retiree e-mail account. The retiree e-mail account will be a separate system and will not provide access to the individual’s e-mail mailbox prior to retirement. The retiree e-mail will be a Microsoft 365 account that will have the @ret.citytech.cuny.edu suffix.

City Tech Exchange Email Management Policies
